Next phase of work to improve safety at Lambeth Bridge
We will begin safety improvements at Lambeth Bridge on 30 January 2025, replacing unsignalised roundabouts with signal-controlled junctions to reduce cycle collisions. The northern junction, London's most dangerous for cyclists, saw 22 of 31 collisions from September 2021 to August 2024.
Enhancements include a cycle lane on the bridge and new pedestrian crossings. The project, part of our Safer Junction programme, also involves urgent maintenance and will connect to existing Cycleways 8 and 5. The works will cause various closures and restrictions until 15 December 2025, with TfL advising alternative transport options.
Your Local Implementation Plan (LIP)
The LIP is produced by London Borough of Westminster and agreed with us. It sets out the details on transport infrastructure changes in a three-year period to support the Mayor's Transport Strategy.
Vision Zero Dashboard: Helping you access collision data
The Vision Zero dashboard is a tool designed to help organisations and members of the public easily access and interpret collision data. By providing this data in a user-friendly format, the dashboard enables users to gain valuable insights into road safety issues in their borough.
